How It All Began
A Dream Born from
Love of Homeland
In 2009, Hamba Gebreyes stood at the edge of Lalibela's rock-hewn churches, watching a group of tourists struggle to understand the profound spirituality of the place. In that moment, he knew his calling: to become the bridge between Ethiopia's extraordinary heritage and those seeking to understand it.
Growing up in Addis Ababa, Hamba spent his childhood summers traveling with his grandfather, a historian who instilled in him a deep appreciation for Ethiopia's complex tapestry of cultures, religions, and landscapes. These journeys planted seeds that would eventually grow into Hamba Ethiopian Tours.
What started with a single Land Cruiser and boundless enthusiasm has grown into a team of passionate specialists, each bringing unique expertise to our mission. But our core philosophy remains unchanged: every traveler deserves to experience Ethiopia not as a tourist, but as a welcomed guest discovering a land of wonders.
